Apparent Texture
Texture is tactile, it can be touched (usually a 3D form). Apparent Texture is the visual representation of texture such as a photograph of texture or a drawing of texture (though the paper of the drawing could have texture as well…). Apparent Texture is created visually through the use of multiple marks of sufficient similarity so as not to be initially perceived as individual figures.
Apparent texture differs from physical texture. Whereas apparent texture is a visual representation of texture, physical texture can actually be touched and felt – it can only exist in 3D media.
