Todd Stanich is an interaction designer at Mutual Mobile in Austin, TX. As an interaction designer, Todd works alongside visual designers, software engineers, and project managers to define the user experience of mobile apps, websites, and connected products. He has worked on projects with brands including Gillette, Union Bank, Lands’ End, AGCO, MillerCoors, and Kellogg’s.
Todd graduated in 2011 with a BFA in Computer Art. During the summers of his sophomore and junior years, he interned at Lands’ End and The Integer Group. These internships helped Todd explore different interests and focus his last two years of study at NMU.
After graduation, he moved to North Carolina and worked as a digital designer/developer at advertising agency The Variable. Working in a small, fast-moving agency allowed him to further explore several different areas of interest including development, design, and motion graphics. A passion for user experience design led him to his current role in Austin.
Thon Lorenz is co-owner and founder of elbē creative partners. Based in Chicago, Illinois elbē designs and develops interactive installations for museums, marketing events and corporate spaces.
Thon graduated in 2004 with a BFA in Computer Art and went on to Syracuse University where he completed his MFA in Video Art. He later relocated to Chicago, Illinois where he began freelancing, building applications for marketing events. Today, Thon leads elbē which focuses on projects of varying scopes. elbē develops apps using a variety of technologies such as AR, VR, mobile and desktop apps on platforms including iOS, Android, Raspberry Pi, Oculus and Unity3D to name a few.
Thon resides in Chicago with his wife and business partner, Melissa and their daughter Louisa Bray.
Mia Cinelli graduated from Northern Michigan University’s School of Art & Design with a BFA in Graphic Communications in 2011. Shortly after she moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to complete her MFA in Art & Design at the University of Michigan, Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design.
Throughout graduate school she worked as a freelance designer, teaching undergraduates during the academic year, and teaching a Portfolio Prep class to high-school students through the Stamps Pre-College Summer Program. She also worked as a Rapid Prototyping Consultant at the UM-3D Lab.
In 2014, Mia was hired as an Assistant Professor of Art & Design at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, tasked with pioneering a new Design program. The program incorporates both graphic and product design, allowing students to study design in a holistic manner before choosing a concentration in 2D or 3D design. She is also currently the Director of the Women’s Commission Art Gallery at Defiance College.
Mia’s work has been featured on Dezeen, Fast Company, MTV, Design Milk, Design Taxi, Paste Magazine, People Magazine, Notcot, The Daily Mail, and Yorokobu, among others. She currently lives in Defiance, Ohio, with her fiance and cat. She is thankful every day for the amazing education she received at NMU.
Ben is the Creative Director and Co-Founder of Rally Interactive, a small design and technology firm based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Rally specializes in design and development of interactive products for mobile devices, web, non-traditional interfaces, and connected systems. They have won numerous industry awards including the prestigious Apple Design Award in 2012. A few of Rally’s direct clients include: Nokia, Google, National Geographic, ESPN, PayPal, HERE, BWIN, PayPal, and Snowbird Ski Resort.
In 2007, Ben graduated from NMU with a BFA in Computer Art. While at Northern, he skied for the nordic ski team. Following graduation, his passion for the outdoors led him to the mountains where he worked for several different design studios before founding Rally.
Ben still enjoys downhill and nordic skiing in the winter and many cycling activities in the summer. He lives with his wife, also a NMU graduate, and their two black cats. He has recently developed an obsession for modern architecture and interior design, despite not being handy.
Gabby Frahry is a Multimedia Designer for Love Grown Foods in Denver, CO., where she creates a variety of materials for both sales and marketing purposes. She graduated from Northern Michigan University, with a bachelors degree in Graphic Communications with a minor in Business Administration in 2012.
After graduation, she spent a year in southern Colorado doing freelance design and photography for local businesses. In July of 2013, she started working at Access Media Group as a Production/Graphic Designer where she continued to grow her design and videography skills. In March of the following year, she obtained her current Designer position at Love Grown Foods. There, she was able to use her various design skills to create materials such as sales presentations and materials, event materials, and packaging.
